Nothing gold can stay.
I'd say give Gunn a chance. DC really has nothing to lose at this point. DC is already at rock bottom creatively.
The best of DC Comics is still behind us. Even today, we're still pulling inspiration from many of the groundbreaking 80s Comics Runs for DC.
So it's no big deal.

Re: Should Gunn run DC?
I'm not particularly excited about it because I'm not a James Gunn fan. However...it couldn't possibly be worse than what they were already doing. I do think we'll at least get a decent Superman movie out of it, and it'll be nice to finally get to see the Batfamily in a movie instead of just Bruce and his manpain for the 7th time.
I would of course have liked to see more diversity in the initial slate of releases, but this is the same company that hired Todd "No Girls Allowed" McFarlane to run their action figure division so, hey.

Re: Should Gunn run DC?
So apparently as a side effect of Gunn’s announcements, a lot of comics got sold. Now all I’m saying is let’s get everyone under the same roof and under the same leadership. One unified creative vision. Gunn can’t run day to day operations of the publishing side. He can set a creative direction.
By far and away preferable to some Hollywood suit.

Eh, can't say as I'm a fan of following the speculators out for a quick buck.

Or ... maybe some of these people might be buying the books because they're understandably curious now and want to read them. I have never read Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow before but I have a copy arriving on Wednesday. Can't wait to see what it's about.AdrienVeidt wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 2:37 pmEh, can't say as I'm a fan of following the speculators out for a quick buck.
Based on the comics that Gunn appears to be basing the films and shows on, he certainly seems to get it. I would not be opposed to him being given the same creative controls over DC that Kevin Feige has at Marvel.

And yeah SD, I’m talking about a Feige type deal. Where Jim Lee and Marie Javins report to Gunn directly.
Re: Should Gunn run DC?
Fair point about speculators, but also to be fair, it happens almost any time a media project is announced for just about any Marvel/DC character. Also, it’s not just about key single issues on eBay. It’s trade sales. Which I’ll take all day long if I’m Marvel or DC. Some of this stuff was out of print in the first place. Heck, it happened with Tim/Jace Fox when he became Batman. Without a media tie in. His first appearance was Batman #313 from 1979. Spiked to around 300 bucks for a time.SDcomics wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 4:29 pmOr ... maybe some of these people might be buying the books because they're understandably curious now and want to read them. Within 24hours? That's speculators, brother. 'Huh, that looks neat' doesn't really cause immediate reactions like we've seen.

It amazes me that you can read minds and discern people's intentions. Which one are you? Martian Manhunter? Saturn Girl? Professor X?
Jean Grey, maybe?

Yes, within 24 hours, The announcement was made on TWITTER. To everyone. All over the world. At the same time. That's plenty of time for people who are curious about these stories to buy them.AdrienVeidt wrote: ↑Mon Feb 06, 2023 9:41 pmWithin 24hours? That's speculators, brother. I’d be curious how the DC app spiked in downloads around these titles too.
Re: Should Gunn run DC?
I’ve been curating my own small library of DC TPBs over the last few years. Bought a copy of Geoff Johns Flash Book 5. Seller in Texas, I’m in Virginia. Took four days to get here and I didn’t pay expedited shipping. If you wanna get your hands on this stuff, it’s pretty easy. Speculating or not, the internet puts everything at your fingertips.SDcomics wrote: ↑Mon Feb 13, 2023 9:10 pmYes, within 24 hours, The announcement was made on TWITTER. To everyone.
