Re: X-Men The Animated Series
I removed the shading from Mystique. Much easier than removing from Wolvie. Wish she was on an updated body, but at least she works as a standard figure for the main collection now.

X-Men The Animated Series
For the VHS line or X-Men 97? Because X-Men 97 is supposedly based entirely on the designs of the characters for the new show since this is the inaugural season and Hasbro’s not going to want to stray too far from the confines of the show. For the VHS line however they might have a little more leeway if it’s just a one off like a comic con set or an amazon 5-pack with a throwback VHS style box design. And then they can put the remaining three members in a separate multipack on pulse?Polarboy01 wrote:I wonder if Pryde of the X-men characters are potentially on the table?

Re: X-Men The Animated Series
They'd better not put them in boxes that don't match the main characters! That's half the appeal at this point.

Re: X-Men The Animated Series
Pryde of the X-Men has nothing to do with the 92 show, but if Hasbro thinks it can resell some older figures then I suppose anything is possible. All of those looks for the X-Men have already been done save for Kitty which makes me think they'd just bypass "Pryde..." and say the figures are based on the Konami brawler so they don't have to sculpt her. An oversized box that's a con exclusive with 6 figures would probably be cool if done well and X-Men stuff still sells so why not?panther10 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 5:03 pmFor the VHS line or X-Men 97? Re: X-Men The Animated Series
I think they have the parts for kitty thanks to their recent Moira McTaggart figure though. She just needs a new headsculpt. And we can get a professor x too so why not give us all 8 characters from either the arcade brawler or the tv pilot? The designs are inherently similar (with only wolverine having the biggest design changes overall)Misfit wrote:Pryde of the X-Men has nothing to do with the 92 show, but if Hasbro thinks it can resell some older figures then I suppose anything is possible. Re: X-Men The Animated Series
Maybe I'm misunderstanding things, but x-men 97 is a new show that will just carry one from the one back in the day. They are doing a wave of action figures from the show but wont they be the same characters in the same costumes and style as the ones being released in the VHS boxes?

Retro Venom was a Pulsecon exclusive
Spider-Man is a Walmart exclusive
X-Men VHS and Spider-Man VHS are Hasbro Pulse and Shop Disney exclusives
There may be slight stylization to the new figures to fit the new artwork/animation, but honestly, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if we get things like the retro card Rogue mold with a green jacket instead of brown and things like that.
Re: X-Men The Animated Series
X-Men97 is a continuation of the old 90s Fox X-Men cartoon (so named because 1997 would have been when a season 5 would have aired). It will use the same Jim Lee style costumes as a basis for it's designs, with a few characters getting slight changes (Storm and Bishop look to have new hair styles based on some images, Magneto has his "Trial of Magneto" costume and Morph has his Age of Apocalypse/Exiles head). I doubt that the 97 wave will have cel shading like the VHS figures considering every cel shaded figure (that I'm aware of) has been a retailer exclusive rather than a main wave release.Polarboy01 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 2:39 pmMaybe I'm misunderstanding things, but x-men 97 is a new show that will just carry one from the one back in the day. It would be hilarious if these were the same X-Men VHS figures, but without сel-shading. They would never do that, right?

Wolverine
Rogue
Storm
Gambit
Bishop
Magneto
So the only one they could really do that with is Wolverine and Storm. Granted all of them could be mold reuses with minimal deco or tooling differences. At the same time, I do kind of expect some changes, like Wolverine might be pinless this time around.

Well the rumored wave is
Wolverine
Rogue
Storm
Gambit
Bishop
Magneto

Also he’s almost guaranteed to have a different headsculpt because the mask shape is much different this time around. Actually it looks relatively close in design to how Andy Kubert used to draw him-Fenrys- wrote:Well the rumored wave is

I recently bought the power rangers lightning collection snizzard on sale for 5 dollars. I repurposed it's crown effect (+ another lightning collection effect) to make a proper firework for jubilee

Re: X-Men The Animated Series
Yeah, I like the Power Rangers effect pieces, I wish Hasbro would share accessories between their brands. I glued a Power Rangers lighting effect piece onto a Magneto statue:

I was a little hesitant to tinker with a statue since they cost a lot more than figures. But I thought the statue looked too plain without showing his powers somehow. And it reminds me of this Jim Lee trading card:

I was gonna buy another of that Power Rangers figure to do the same thing on my Legends Magneto. But then MAFEX announced theirs, and that does come with a bunch of blue effect pieces.

Even better than the upcoming Mafex effect.

Yes I love the Power Rangers effects! It’s one of the biggest draws for me. Crimson Dynamo uses a blue energy effect from somebody (Blue Dino Ranger?). And I gave two purple energy effects to Wonder Man.
