Re: One a Day - Day 482: Blue Shield
First of all thanks again to Beamish for keeping this thread going and inviting me back to add yet more needed characters to the list.
479 - Stingray and Jolt:
Obviously these were my choices so they were both a huge yes from me. Stingray has been a favorite from way back. I think my first memory of him was as a guest star in Marvel Two In One - but he made a huge impression on me. I have always thought Stingray has one of the best costumes in the Marvel Universe and I want a figure of it a lot. The character has been often marginalized but I’ve always enjoyed when he has been brought back in to the Marvel U – especially when he was an actual member of the Avengers roster – however briefly. I need this figure in my collection for sure.
I’m surprised that Jolt received a more tepid response. The Thunderbolts are perhaps the best Marvel team introduced since the All-New All-Different X-Men and Jolt is vital to the Thunderbolts mix. I especially cracked up at this comment:
Anyway, I want the whole team in their T-Bolts gear: So Meteorite, Techno and Atlas at a minimum in addition to Jolt. I don’t think they can do Charcoal, but Ogre might be fun to finish out the first few years.
480 – It the Living Colossus: I have to be honest there are a number of oversize characters I really, really want (Black Goliath, Living Pharaoh, Atlas, Cassie Lang… etc) that I shy away from some of the more minor oversized characters in my want list. But I read plenty of silver age books where It showed up that I wouldn’t mind if they made a figure of him. His lower on my list of needed giants – but he’s on the list.
481 - Squid: So this is definitely a character I have never seen once until this thread. That being said the entire concept – especially the name - works for me so much that I would 100% buy this figure if it were released. It’s goofy, it’s Doc Ock adjacent, and it just seems to work somehow. Animal themed Spidey villains are the best and I can’t say no to one even if I’ve never seen it in print.
482 - Blue Shield: I mean… the guy is definitely a mort - a super hero named after a health insurance company? The character design is generic enough that I could see him being a cheap-to-do inside joke included in a wave. It’s not a character I have a need for in my collection, but I do own that Dazzler book he’s in and if the figure got made I’d probably buy it.

The team literally made one appearance - Incredible Hulk 449 - before Jolt debuted in Thunderbolts #1. She made the Thunderbolts story go because she brought the tension between Zemo and Sofen’s desire to use the masquerade to their own villainous ends - and the genuine desire of Atlas and Songbird to lean in to being good guys. Without Jolt it would have been far easier for Josten and Melissa to be manipulated into going Zemo’s way. Jolt made the Thunderbolts concept work – so to consider her “secondary” - is really just to miss the point of the entire first two years of the series.”Canprime” wrote: I consider Jolt a secondary Thunderbolt member, and well behind the original lineup. I would get he to flesh out the team, but I would hope she shows up after they get to finishing the original lineup.

Re: One a Day - Day 482: Blue Shield
I would definitely pick up Blue Shield. He was one of the Project: Pegasus resident superhero security chiefs and a member of the Initiative. If you check out his back story, he's actually an interesting character. A decent writer could do all kinds of things with him.

I loved the Project Pegasus stories as a kid, so I’d go for a Blue Shield figure. He reminds me of DC’s Guardian.

I still stand by my preference for the original roster (villains as heroes) before adding Jolt.
Re: One a Day - Day 482: Blue Shield
I could have sworn she didn't appear in Thunderbolts until much later, but I haven't re-read the books so it was fuzzed in my mind. I think I need to brush up on my original Thuderbolts run.PantherCult wrote: ↑Wed Feb 08, 2023 12:05 amFirst of all thanks again to Beamish for keeping this thread going and inviting me back to add yet more needed characters to the list.

Re: One a Day - Day 482: Blue Shield
Catch-up after a short vacation:
Dragon Man - If they get the scale right, I am 100% in. Have the first Dragon Man figure and I can live with that one.
Charlie-27 - Would like more of the original Guardians, even if not my favorite team, always will support team completion of pre-90's teams.
Nightwatch - Would likely skip, he was introduced at the end of my core reading and don't really know the character that well.
Stingray - Yes for a classic villain
Jolt - Not really a Thunderbolts fan, so no for the STAS Livewire knockoff...
It! Living Colossus - If scaled right, he'd be bigger than I probably would want for the display, and if not scaled right, then I wouldn't want him out of scale, so... guess that's a pass.
Squid - so this is a character I never heard of, but I have decided I will buy any animal themed villain in animal-esque attire. Hence my support of the absurd Kangaroo second version. I am prepared to dedicate a shelf just to villains dressed as creatures.
(Aside - I need to create a list of animal themed villains)
Blue Shield - Maybe? And a tepid maybe at that.

Yes to classic costume Hercules to go on the Asgardian, allies and opponents shelf. The green shorts/man harness one stays on the Avengers shelf.

Yep, first few pics for me as well. Although, if they go deep on the 90's Jackets Avengers I'd get a shaven Herc to go with the team.

I don't think I've ever actually read a comic with Hercules outside of the Handbook, heh. So I don't have any real connection to him. So far, the movie one hasn't done much for me either but with more appearances, maybe I'll be into a MCU version eventually.
