Kaiyodo Amazing Yamaguchi

Sat Oct 02, 2021 11:18 pm

I just opened the Comic iron spider and it’s not bad. Well….a few things to note:

It’s frustrating but fun.

It’s janky as all get out, but it’s still solid.

It’s challenging to work with but not difficult.

The waldo’s especially can be hard to work with but they do the job.

So this figure kind of contradicts itself without feeling too tedious. So I guess that makes this one of the stronger AY figures out there. I guess I’m pleased. And considering the last time I had my hands on a comic based iron spider was way back in 2007 when Hasbro first took over the Marvel license and showed us that vac metal red and yellow and the paint peeled instantly on that figure, this is definitely an improvement.

Surprised theres no talking about the new Deadpool 2.0. I got this guy the other day and MOSTLY like it. But like all Amazing Yamaguchi figures, its cool but jank as hell. Love the huge amount of weapons and don't mind the goofy laser guns (gives a 90s marvel vibe) but they goofed on how the swords attach to the back because there isn't proper clearance for the scabbards to properly cross over so the top one pops off easily (and its peg is too small to peg in securely even if there was proper clearance). Cool figure but isn't going to convert anyone who doesn't like the line. Is it better than the original DP? Honestly its hard to say - if I didn't sell mine off a year ago I'd probably have passed on this one.

Should be getting mine today but didn’t get the original so I can’t compare them. I really like the MHA figures and the iron spider they did last year was fantastic but so far there has been only two out of the 10 or so revoltech figures I gave that I don’t get a little frustrated with when posing (previously mentioned iron spider and bakugo) but I’m still collecting this line so they can’t all be that bad

I decided to pass on him after the Fwoosh review. Seemed like too much little nagging annoyances that would bother me. Which is a shame. I love the look of him. Looks like he popped right out of an issue of Cable and Deadpool.

Ultimately I feel Mezco Mafex and SHF have put out much better versions of Deadpool and i don't see the need for the AY one.

Yamaguchi Spider-man 2.0 is up for pre-order. Based on the 2015 series, The All new All different Amazing Spider-man.
A comparison with the Marvel Legends version.

The head looks small and proportions lanky, though appears to be accurate to the comic art.

Translated from Kaiyodo site.
"Fluorescent paint is used for each eye part, the outline of the spider mark on the chest, and the three types of web effects. When you shine a black light, you can enjoy the luminous image as it looks faintly glowing in the dark."

Totally. No doubt they are working on a Cap 2.0 that will fit in better with these new aesthetics. This Spidey should look good next to the upcoming Black Panther which I am also hyped for.

Should be no surprise that Black Panther was a perfect fit for the Amazing Yamaguchi style. I only have minor quality quibbles like an easily fixed loose knee and the revo wrist joint separating into two. Snuck in to my top 5 for the year.

Nice pics.

Easily my favorite Black Panther figure.

They chose the Vengeance of MK's costume. Interesting...
