Man this is a busy month when it comes to imports for me. SHMA Godzilla 1989, Amazing Yamaguchi Iron Spider, Hush and now Gambit. Plus I have Retro POTF2 Luke, ML Maestro, a custom spawn cape and Lootcrate TMNT Danny. And all of them are just a couple days apart from one another.

Yeah I feel as though all my PO's from 2020 are about to drop in 3 sequential months, but we'll see though. I had a bad dream about this Gambit where he was a great figure but his coat was absolutely ridiculous - like a kid wearing his dads clothes. He was being meme'd by toy photographers and reviewers as "kid gumbo".

I need to get outside more lol.

This is what's holding me back from getting Gambit. I really hate soft goods. So if I did buy him, I'd also have to get the Hush and swap the coat and arms. Not sure I want to spend twice the money.

I don't care if it loses a little in articulation or posability, that plastic coat looks much better to me.

The initial round of Hush is selling out, but usually Mafex ships at least a second round out 2-3 months after the first one. I bet he's relatively easy to find to kitbash his coat in a few months since he's a relatively obscure character. It'll be very interesting to see if kitbashing him with Gambit works for someone.

For the most part I've really really loved MAFEX's soft goods. We'll see how he looks in person, but I'm surprised 1.) that they went cloth and 2.) that they didn't choose some sort of pleather looking material.

I'm glad they went with cloth. It'll hold up to the test of time much better.

I think soft goods both look and function far better. I will die on that hill.

Exactly. I hate leather materials a lot, because a lot of times, they flake after a couple of years.

Personally, my preference really varies regarding soft goods or not. I think usually soft goods are harder to be done right.

For capes, I usually prefer soft goods.

I prefer Hush’s overcoat although I like Gambit’s too.

What a beautiful figure. Anyone else hunt for the original Toybiz Gambit back in '92 or '93? He was my favorite from the cartoon yet he was short packed or something, super scarce - him and Ice Man. I wanted those two so bad. Finally found him at a KB over the summer and my older cousin bought him for me. I was elated. I remember trimming down the seams of his jacket with nail scissors to get it to look better. As an adult I've held out on buying other Gambits, none of them hit the right note, but this one surely is. Finally get to add him to my X-Men roster. Makes me feel like a kid again!
