Star Wars Black 6 inch General Discussion

But we're talking about them selling regular figures for $27.99 and pseudo-"Deluxe" figures for $33.99 now. Those are price increases of 40%-70%. I'm sorry but the cost of doing business and manufacturing has not gone up 40 to 70 percent during the previous two years.

They got jealous of NECA's price points.
Its pretty insane. Im sure theres some reasoning that Im not aware of, but its definitely not good for the line.

I would probably be more understanding of it if I didnt see other companies like Jazzwares & McFarlane managing to keep the increases at a minimum. I would think a large company like Hasbro would be able to compete with these guys as far as pricing goes, but im not in the toy business so Its beyond me.

I came across these at another local target, and was pretty surprised. I thought seeing Teeka for 29.99 was crazy, but this Target had him priced at 32.49, and Saw for 39.49.

Yes! I'm so glad someone recognized it. Dumb comedy but shouldn't be forgotten.

Snagged a Second Sister at Power Con yesterday for $20. Did a triple take when I saw the price and figured something had to be wrong with it, but nope. She’s missing her extra shoulder pads, which I didn’t realize were a thing until I looked her up, but I doubt I’d use them anyway.

Spoiler! :
It's from Used Cars, ridiculous movie (in a good way, to me) from 1980)

The commercials in Robocop were hilarious too.

They got jealous of NECA's price points.

I think this is actually mostly inflation. More than sixty percent of the CPI increase since 2013 happened in the last two years—almost forty percent in the last twelve months of CPI date (though June).

The basic figure price over the years in August 2013 dollars:

2013 — $19.99
2014 — $19.66
2015 — $19.62
2016 — $19.41
2017 — $19.04
2018 — $18.54
2019 — $18.22
2020 — $17.99
2021 — $19.65 (increase to $22.99)
2022 — $19.72 (through June)

What's going on with exclusive prices, I don't know. We've seen prices this expensive since 2016, but it wasn't unusual for an exclusive to be sold at the mainline price point as recently as 2020.

Some adjusted historical per-figure exclusive prices:

2015
First Order Stormtrooper — $31.03 (SDCC)

2016
Clone Trooper 4-Pack — $30.68 (EE)
Rogue One 3-Pack — $28.60 (Target)

2017
Captain Rex — $30.00 (HasCon)
Clone Commander Gree — $30.25 (TRU)
First Order Executioner — $26.40 (Target)
Inferno Squad Agent — $27.62 (GameStop)
Praetorian Guard (Heavy Blade) — $30.40 (Amazon)

2018
Deluxe Gammorean Guard — $35.26 (Target)
Deluxe Moloch — $35.14 (Target)

2019
Commander Fox — $28.77 (Fan Channel)

2020
Ahsoka Tano — $28.45 (Walmart)
Hondo Ohnaka — $28.49 (Target)
Jedi Knight Revan — $28.63 (GameStop)

It's curious that TVC isn't seeing the same markups for retailer exclusives that TBS and Marvel Legends are. Maybe there's a specific shipping impact that we're not seeing?

Saw Teeka for $38 before tax here in NY the other day. Meant to snag a picture, but I think I was too stunned. The local Forbidden Planet did have the new wave with the Show-bi Wan figures, but for $30 a pop, so I didn't bite. Living in NY was pretty expensive before, but the one thing I had was that my figures weren't thaaat much more expensive than anywhere else. Guess those days are a thing of the past, save for the odd line here or there, like McFarlane, but even those are priced up depending on where I get them.

I think Target is marking up the prices so they can recoup their cost when they go on clearance for 50% off in 2-3 weeks. That seems to be their MO recently.

Save the Rebellion! Save the dream!

Just need a photoreal Krennic now. Get on it, Hasbro!

I also got the RoS Threepio and painted his leg silver. Now he’s my definitive Black Series Threepio. Here are some comparisons with the Walgreens Threepio. The RoS is on the left.

And a final one with the Figuarts:

I have a few stores like that (Walmart & Target). They're in the more "upscale" affluent areas, so they charge more for the same items as other locations of the same retailer.
