I agree, three would be perfect. Two movies a year makes more sense to me than two shows. Plus, Daredevil apparently follows Echo so the sooner the better with both of those. And also, again, I agree about putting shows on the back burner. They're filming some right now that, if they do only two a year, we don't see until 2025 or 2026.
And lastly, to put it into perspective: If number of releases is really the issue, how come we're getting five movies from May of 2022 to this May (MoM, Love and Thunder, Wakanda Forever, Quantumania, GOTG Vol. 3) and that's too many, yet we got the same amount from May 2017 to May 2018 (GOTG Vol 2, Homecoming, Ragnarok, Black Panther, Infinity War) and that was the golden age of the MCU? I still don't feel like quantity is the issue.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 wave (2023)
That is a good point. Perhaps quantity isn't the issue. I think it's just been a perfect storm of things. One, it's all pre-Endgame and you've got your people who were ready to say the MCU is done after Endgame no matter what happened. Nothing will ever change their mind. Then you have the people who don't know how to enjoy the ride. Early MCU we had no idea where we were headed so we happily took slow beats getting there to meet new characters or introduce new places. But now that we know where the MCU can go some people don't want to take those slow beats they just want Endgame level movies every single time. Secondly, our society post-pandemic has become very polarized. Everyone loves to hate everything these days. You like cold, well I like hot, Idk why I do but let's argue about it. Suddenly I see more people are hating on the MCU so I'm gonna join that party too because that's what we do these days is hate on things. And in the midst of all this hate Marvel also wants to throw in a very aggressive diversity agenda. Getting themselves banned in certain countries. And now you have this group of fans who are gonna hate She-Hulk and Ms Marvel because they think everything has an agenda. I love the diversity and im happy to see it but there is a unfortunately large portion of audience goers who seem to choke on the idea of diversity. Then of course thirdly, you have accountability from Marvel themselves. Fiege has taken on a much larger business role since the Infinity Saga and is now dealing with shows, more new characters than ever before, starting a new Saga, navigating a post pandemic Hollywood, pushing progression while not losing your audience. So clearly, his attention is being taken away from the writers room. I think fan expectation has a lot to do with it, mephisto for example or expecting MoM to be what they are likely saving for Secret Wars. But Marvel is to blame too, which one of them reviewed Love and Thunder and decided that that was what were going with in terms of story and comedy. The comics offered so much potential for a very dark, very real, very emotional movie with a freaking God butcher!! And the love of Thor's life dying from the one thing he can't save her from. Yet we got a fast paced, slap stick comedy.
We cant expect the studio to be flawless and they'll always have their haters. But I do appreciate them for trying. I appreciate pushing through with the diversity even if it hurts their box office. And I appreciate them course correcting. If they think quantity is the issue, let them slow down and find out. If they're wrong they can try something else. The MCU is very adaptable and I think they will remain successful for that reason. They may not have their shiny record anymore but that's the thing people seem to forget, it never had a shiny record to begin with.

Re: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 wave (2023)
Well, a lot of truth in all that, all the way to the end. Very very few of their movies are close to perfect, but most of them are always fun at least. And that led to a lot of revisiting for me. We watched Iron Man 2, always one of the more maligned MCU movies, and I STILL think it's fun. Not at all perfect but I get what I want out of it. Phase four had some great stuff a couple pushed into my top ten MCU movies. I don't think any of the shows were flawless but even my least favorite of them has some great moments and solid concepts. I would definitely put Love and Thunder and MOM at the bottom though. I don't regret watching them but I don't see myself rewatching anytime soon, if ever. The issues I had with them really eclipse anything I did enjoy. Meanwhile, I liked Black Widow and Shang Chi as much as some phase 3 movies, and loved NWH and Eternals. But looking at my main 'heroes' shelf, a third of them are characters or versions from phase 4. Which says a lot about how excited I was for some of the new characters. And still ready for more. One of the best things about the X-Men ever since the giant sized issue was how widespread their diversity was. It was a great comic for kids all of the world to find someone who looks like them and I hope if they ever do a mutants show, it ends up being the closest-to-perfect series marvel ever produces. I still say having a core team travelling the world, seeking out mutants to enroll in the 'school', then all of them show up in the finale to aid with the big bad of the season has potential for a fun show. Mutant of the week while really diving into allegorical stuff.
Anyway, I kinda expect this movie to get a lot of "finally, marvel is righting the ship" reactions. And I hope that is correct too. I don't hate on marvel but haven't been as enthusiastic about some offerings as I'd like. But I also recognize no creative person has only ideas I'll love. All my favorite directors still have a few movies I wasn't into.

I still enjoyed Love and Thunder a lot. The comedy helped lighten what could have been a very dark and heavy story. I was able to bring my kids to share it with them because the comedy made it workable for them.

Mantis and Drax in holiday attire.

Kevin Bacon.

And Cy-Kill.

I want a Deluxe Nebula done like those weird dancing Santa animatronic figures. Weird robot dance moves, unite!
I hope a future Mantis variant comes with a candy cane. Though typing that out I realize a real candy cane would probably work just fine at this scale.

I really like that Mantis figure but really not feeling the lack of hands, which is often my issue with female MCU figures. Also, the promo pics don't inspire confidence in buying windowless:

After making us wait 4 years from her initial reveal to be able to place a preorder, Hot Toys' Mantis has the capability to be regular (Vol. 2/IW/EG) or Christmas Special, it's pretty awesome.
