The General Props and Furniture Thread

Thu Aug 19, 2021 6:39 am

Thought it might be cool to have a spot where we could focus in on props and set pieces.

I've been looking for a good desk, for example, for 6 inch figures to sit at. Like an office desk. I saw a blue metal-like desk in an auction a little while back but missed out and don't have a clue what line it was from....

If anyone has suggestions I'd welcome them!

They ask for a lot now but the gotham riddler came with a desk
I think the x files mulder and scully had a desk and chair
All by diamond select

Check wwe/ wrestling figures or sites that sell accessories for those

Extreme sets sells furniture props also

These are around 1/12 scale

To follow up on legthook's wrestling note.

You can check out this site, https://www.wrestlingsuperstore.com/act ... egear.aspx. I've ordered from them before.

I believe Ringside Collectibles also carries some of their stuff.

You can look on eBay for Jakks WWE/WWF accessory lots, and may find some unique stuff.

Depending on the figures you plan on using, dollhouse scale items can sometimes be used, so checking Hobby Lobby, Michael's Crafts, and Joann's for items.

Thanks for all the great suggestions guys.

It was a tanker desk - like one of those all-metal ones we see from time to time.

Ok, turns out it was Diamond Select Gotham TV show Ridder's prop! Lefthook - you win the prize LOL. Take a bow!

Another question - where have you guys found good staircases for 6 inch figures? I know a cool white one was made for a Matrix figure playset....I'm looking for something like that but coming up short. Even dollhouses don't seem to have them, at least not wide ones. Barbie apparently hops up and down stairs on one foot 😄

I've also wanted some columns, for temple ruins and that kind of thing. Tried pet stores for fish tank displays but those are crazy expensive and tiny.

ive given up on finding it but the munsters staircase by diamond select is a good size
may the gods be with you finding a complete set though. that uncle gilbert part is a pain to find.

i suggest tying to make some out of xps foam
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kingspan-Insul ... 1000236635

this is the one from home depot
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Owens-Corni ... /315401957

1 should be plenty of trial and error for some stairs. lots of tutorial for texture and painting to your liking.

hobby lobby sells columns.
https://www.hobbylobby.com/Party-Baking ... rs/p/48086

i think they also have bigger ones, like the heavy cast ones for indoor plants.

Juicetincustoms 3d printed some (only ebay store i know but im sure there might be others that do this to)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/353439084321?h ... SwjlNgZVQp

he also has pre-orders open for a set of table and chairs

miniatures.com has some furniture that might be worth taking a look but i usually find the 1:12 scale from them (i think theirs are more true to scale) are small for the legends and mezco figures.

hope that helps. im always amazed at the dio makers and dedicated figure photographers out there and have tried to make some here and there. maybe we get a chance to see your diplays too.

Great ideas! That Munsters staircase is cute but not as grand as what I'd be seeking....I'd want something wide enough for various figures...

Yes, I've been inspired by what I see online....not looking to make anything too elaborate of course, but to see if I can't have some fun too :)

From what's commercially available, you aren't going to find anything that will fit more than qt most, 2 figures on a tread.

If you want something "grand", you are going to have to make it or commission someone to make it for you.

Is this what you are looking for? Suggest the painted one.

I regularly do "1/12 scale" searches on Etsy and come up with some cool stuff. There's a fair amount of 3D printed items available in a lot of different categories on the site. Yes, the searches have a lot of Dollhouse stuff but you have to keyword your entries.

Only got 2 left at the moment, but I'll be adding more as I make them!

That's a cool custom desk! I was looking for the Gotham one, but that's really neat as well.

Hey just wanted to leave this strange find for you folks here!
https://www.miniaturesweethk.com/search ... pe=product
That is a link to a miniatures dealer's 1/12 scale page of their site. They have other scales, but this is a great start, and the bulk of customs here are 1/12.
There is 3 pages for that scale really worth checking out. They have everything from food, bottles, furniture, and even a 1/12 scale candy store. One of the things i saw that was interesting was a simple windex style window cleaner bottles. Some obscure stuff that might really help push dio's and photography work. Plus their prices seem relatively good in comparison with their contemporaries high prices in this niche market.
I hope this helps somebody out there!

Figured I'd leave this link here.
https://shadowmoses112.com/

Saw some items showcased in a d_amazing video and went to check it out.

I have TMNT and X-Men 4 player arcade cabinets that should be here tomorrow. I'll post pics on Tuesday since I work until 11pm and won't be able to get to them until then.
