The Athena, Eurayle, and Necro Stheno bios set up Eurayle killing Zeus as a nexus event. A dumb and improbable and unearned nexus event, but that's what they're going with. They've given themselves a huge out. Nothing has to be historically accurate.
 What? What are you talking about nothing has to be historically accurate? What was -ever- historically accurate about Achilles banging Eurayle and making snake people, or Orcs - I can't remember which it was? Or Leonidas in space armor with a laser xiphos? Or like.. anything about the entire 'mythic fantasy history + elves + dwarves + zombies + time traveling + magic? The entire foundation of HACKS has been, since the beginning, a vague story that allows them to smash together everything and anything they feel like making as toys.

Not in the least bit saying you have to enjoy the storytelling. Honestly, I don't like most of the bios very much myself. But saying it's 'not historically accurate' is a !@#$ deranged hill to die on.

The firt wave of the 6" line is in stock at BBTS. I finally get to ship my POL.

I pre-ordered the 6" Cowboy skeleton. I was hesitiant at first. He feels a little off missing pants. And a long jacket would have been a nice bonus. I want to pair him with the Fortnite cowboy Pancake man. Does the Rams head work as an alternate head?

Did Leonidas in space armor with a laser xiphos legit happen? Ancient Astronaut theorists, say yes.

I really like that Eterno Guardian 6" HACKS figure revealed today. I want two of those to be like guardians of a temple. Like they were from some ancient race of giants and stand guard over something.

Athena is amazing... I wish I was into 4" figures XD
anyway... I'm a bit confused
Did Boss Fight Studios give any hints about the chance to get a Vitruvian HACKS 6 inch line?
Coming back around to this because today's panel was actually Epic HACKS.

Four new Epic HACKS skeletons are up for pre-order right now at the usual places: cowboy, wrestler, Roman soldier, Greek soldier
100% confirmed that they will be doing human figures, blanks, and accessory packs in the 6" line. But nothing specific was announced today. They said the skeleton stuff just came together a lot faster so that's why we're seeing that stuff first.
Thank you
The 2nd wave of skeletons is cool, especially the Roman and the Greek ones (perfect for army building purposes)... The luchador a bit... meh...

BTW, the 2 skeleton ancient soldiers heavily hit the "human" vitruvians are coming.

If BFS decided to show even at least a blank body I'd be satisfied

The Greek series danced around gaps in lore. That's how Stheno and Eurayle get to be our antagonists. There's not a lot written about them. But the entire pantheon getting wiped out in plain view of mortals means history as we know it after the Greek war never existed. That's the Vitruvian plot. Undoing all that chaos Eurayle caused.

Like your alternate reality Romans wearing their uniform a little differently. Completely plausible when the Capitoline Triad won't even exist. Don't like it? Take the pugio off and put it on the other side if you want Rome from a normal timeline. DONE. I'm not the one complaining about it. I'm just pointing out how things start unraveling after Zeus is killed.

So, Wave 7 of the Fantasy HACKS went up for pre order. Well, Leonidas and the Coleop Terra. I was worried when the Desert Wanderer and Bard weren't up for pre order with them, as they were the 2 I was most excited about from this Wave. But BFS said those 2 were still coming. They'd be up for pre order soon after some approval stuff went through.

Overall, a fun week of stuff. Very excited about HACKS as always, and I may get some of these 6" HACKS. Then Saurozoic still just looks like a lot of fun to me. I think I'm going to have to get in on those.

I can't wait for Fantasy Wave 8, with the Dwarves and the bigger Orc. And I am excited about beyond Wave 8 when they start mixing and matching themes per Wave. I can't wait for the day we start getting the Pirates and Mermaids, and I'm interested in seeing their Space Men and Aliens figures.

It was interesting they discussed their new way of trying to fund things for bigger, more unique items. The first thing they are trying with that new "pre order minimum" style format is Sam & Max. But I hope it goes well and they can do things for HACKS, Saurozoic, Power Stars, etc.

What would make more sense is for the pantheon to be imprisoned in the underworld, and have Stheno, Eurayle, and Hades be the new supreme triad eventually adopted by the Romans. Rather than what the Greeks knew as Athena, Hera, and Zeus.

That normalizes the undead because there's nowhere for them to go. And that sidesteps the logic problem of immortals being able to outright kill other immortals. Then you can ride the trope wagon all the way to the Vitruvian crew winning not because they were better but because Stheno, Eurayle, and Hades couldn't stop fighting each other. Practically writes itself if you give it but a moment's thought.

Wave 8 is what I'm most excited for, and I'm a little disappointed we didn't get any news or glimpses from it. I can wait. Mermaids I'm also really looking forward to. And I would be all in on a haslab style HACKS dragon!

Yes. It's just an upscaled version of the same ram's skull alternate head that we got in the Skeleton Accessory Set for the 1:18 figures (same as the pumpkin head -and- the pirate head on the other figures). I use the (1:18th) ram skull on a flying skeleton demon I made. Never even thought of using it on a cowboy skeleton. Super cool idea, in my opinion.

I'm legitimately very torn between using some of these 6" skeletons as actual 1:12 skeletons for Mezco Conan or Marvel Legends or whatever, and using them as 'giant skeletons' for my HACKS. I'm trying not to end up buying a bunch of extras just so I can have them everywhere, because I know myself and eventually I'll tighten up the displays and feel like I wasted money getting so much extra. But it's really tempting.
aiborgatel wrote: If BFS decided to show even at least a blank body I'd be satisfied
My understanding is that upscaling the 4" human body in a way that BFS is happy with is requiring a lot more work and time than upscaling the skeleton did. The skeleton mostly just got new wrists, ankles, and hips, and everything else kind of stayed mostly the same. So those were done really quickly, but they're not going to be showing the humans too soon because it's taking longer to get to a point they're happy with. Personally, I'm just happy to know they're coming and Epic HACKS will be more than just cool skeleton figures.

This actually made me a little nervous. It was suggested that this will test their ability to do future 'crowd-funded' things, and I hope they just mean the system itself and how it functions, rather than 'if this project doesn't do well we might not do other projects.' Because I am far from convinced that rotocast Sam and Max toys are a good litmus test for whether or not you can sell a HACKS Dragon. I'm sure that's not what they meant but it did have that sound to it and I momentarily panicked.

Shoretrooper69 wrote:The Greek series danced around gaps in lore.
It absolutely did not not. They've been making major alterations to the established mythology since the beginning. I imagine the issue is that you're either selectively remembering what the HACKS lore even is, OR you are very selectively remembering your Greek history and mythology. (Or both.)

And let me be absolutely clear: You don't have to like any of the HACKS lore at all. I'm not saying you should or that you're wrong to dislike it. I'm only saying that your reasons for disliking it are bad ones. You can just not like it. For no reason at all. But when you couch it in 'because of this' or 'because of that' - then those reasons should stand up. And they don't.

Shoretrooper69 wrote: But the entire pantheon getting wiped out in plain view of mortals means history as we know it after the Greek war never existed.
Yes? That's literally the plot of 'HACKS' since day 1. An actual army of "tens of thousands" of gorgon snake monsters rampage across Greece, which itself would change all of human history anyway, and the fallout from all the various things that happen (like Achilles !@#$ Eurayle and creating Orcs) creates the fantasy series 'Dark Ages' of the world in place of real human history. History as we know it literally DOES end prior to the end of the wars in Greece. Before, really, because in this world the gods are real, but I digress. So I fail to see how this changes anything.

Even before this, the world is fundamentally different because Achilles is still around to lead Gorgon soldiers against combined forces of Spartans and Athenians after the latter's 'long rivalry' despite that Achilles should have died hundreds of years before Athens was even founded, let alone had an ongoing rivalry with Sparta. The 'mythology' of HACKS is a compressed, fantasy version of the highlights of modern Greek myth as a starting point for a fantasy, time-travel space story.

So you think your complaint about the fictional universe they're creating in the bios for the packaging is more valid than a complaint about the actual sculpted parts that cannot be changed without literally cutting up and resculpting parts of the figure? That's weird, man. It's weird.

Shoretrooper69 wrote: What would make more sense is for the pantheon to be imprisoned in the underworld
We don't know they're not.

Within Greek Mythology proper, Zeus is said to have KILLED Kronus. A deeper dive suggests that Kronus being killed just resulted in him being easy to toss into Tartarus (or Nyx, depending on who you're reading), where he's trapped for eternity. But virtually all Greek mythology, going as far back as we know of, refers to Zeus KILLING Kronus first. So Boss Fight referencing Eurayle killing Zeus is well within the 'rules' of the established mythology. We just don't have any further information. It's even fuzzier with Kronus himself maybe killing Uranus. Greek mythology may or may not have suggested that Uranus died after he was castrated by Kronus. They just literally never talk about him again.
And if the Greek Gods are literally real.. are other gods real? Do 'dead gods' actually go to Tartarus/Nyx? Do they go to the Christian Hell instead? Do they go to Hel, or maybe all dead gods go to Valhalla? The approach this line takes that 'the Greek Gods are -real-' already changes everything about, ironically, Greek Mythology, by making implications we just don't have answers for. And again, it's really just a cherry-picking of elements to form a foundation for a story, not a legally binding statement that everything you read in Greek Mythology for Beginners is going to be 100% enforced.

Just be glad they didn't start with a foundation of Norse mythology, because how absolutely contradictory and nonsensical that stuff is would blow your mind.

Shoretrooper69 wrote: That normalizes the undead because there's nowhere for them to go.
This is already normalized in Greek mythology. In some tellings, there was a fear of those who couldn't cross the Styx returning as ghosts/undead.

Shoretrooper69 wrote: And that sidesteps the logic problem of immortals being able to outright kill other immortals.
Again, already something that happens in Greek Mythology.

Shoretrooper69 wrote: Practically writes itself if you give it but a moment's thought.
Sounds boring and trite. You know.. like the kind of thing that writes itself without any thought. Or creativity.

I view this a lot like the MOTUC bios. It's fun and cute that they want to create this overarching story that can tie together every toy they make so that it can all be part of one universe. And I'm sure there's some people that really like or even need that. I don't. And I don't necessarily think the story is a great one. It's okay. I suppose I'd say it does the job it's setting out to do. But it's also not promising fidelity to anything but itself and the mythology it is creating, so you're setting yourself up for disappointment if you go in with notions of what the bios -should- say about certain events or characters. At the least, you can enjoy the toys and forget the bios even exist.

Because if this bothers you, how have you not already been losing your shit over some of the dumber stuff in the existing fantasy bios? There's some really 'woof, really?' stuff in there.
