Like I said, I hope you guys are right but I don't think Hasbro's holding steady with prices in any of their lines. Seeing the extras, like the heads, jet packs, etc. in both sets has me mentally preparing for $59.Scotch n Ciggs wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 12:56 pmIt'll be closer to $40 and steel brigade around $50. Little plastic accessories and explosion effects aren't worth an extra $25 on their own.GrumpyMatt wrote: ↑Thu Feb 02, 2023 12:41 amI hope you guys are right but I don't see the TB set being released for less than $59.99 the way Hasbro's rolling these days.
It's 2023 now, son.
And that price won't stop me for a second ...

Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series
You are probably right Grumpy. I don’t think it’s going to jump very high but I’m sure by years end basic figures will be $29.99 with deluxe being $39.99 and two packs $65.99 and vehicle packs $80. This economy thing is probably going to show a flat Winter and Spring. I think the price will creep $2-3 by mid and end of year.
It could see fans moving to a 4” option as it will be less than 6” product.

GI Joe, like Star Wars, can probably survive a scale switch like that a little better than something like Marvel, simply because there's a legacy of product at that size. But even then costs will continue to creep and eventually 4" collectors would be asked to pay what 6 inch collectors are balking at, so even reverting back to the smaller scale wouldn't be likely to save the line.
Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series
This isn't the first time I've seen people opine something like this but I feel like the industry people have spoken about this and that there is LESS value in a 4" line than a 6" line. 4" figures cost almost as much as to make as 6" figures but for consumers there feels like substantially less value in hand. To sell 4" figures at significantly lower prices than 6" figures the company actually sees less profit and the savings per figure to the consumer may not be enough for many to switch scales. I am an example of someone who will not switch to a 4" figure collection ever - no matter the circumstances. If they stop making 6" figures I stop buying figures.Prophet924 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 03, 2023 10:49 pmI think the price will creep $2-3 by mid and end of year.

Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series
That sounds about right. I have found myself buying more 3 3/4” Joes just to have again. As long as I have a good job I’ll continue to collect 6” Joes. At this point the Joe toys are the most fun. So I’ll pay higher costs if need be.
I’m really curious how they will work more vehicles into the line.

Luckily, not every Vehicle has to be as big and complex as the hisstank. Taking out lights and working treads can lead to some different options for consumers. In theory, there wouldn't be that much of difference in plastic and size between the Fortnite Boat and VAMPProphet924 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 1:19 amThat sounds about right. I'm hoping for this as well. Hopefully the line's success has encouraged Hasbro to take a chance with the VAMP and similarly sized vehicles and release them at retail.thewyldman wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 4:49 pmLuckily, not every Vehicle has to be as big and complex as the hisstank. Especially because the VAMP tooling can be used for multiple vehicles instead of a solo release or just repaintsmaczero wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 7:03 pmI'm hoping for this as well. Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series
I would imagine that is the biggest positive for the VAMP in the Joe team's, and bean counters/execs, mind. If they can get it down to a reasonable price for retail then it has a chance, and the fact it can be used at least 4 times (Vamp, MK2, Stinger, Tiger Sting) has to be a positive. They would get a lot of use out of the molds, and years worth of releases.thewyldman wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 7:04 pmEspecially because the VAMP tooling can be used for multiple vehicles instead of a solo release or just repaintsmaczero wrote: ↑Sat Feb 04, 2023 7:03 pmI'm hoping for this as well. I thought in some SDCC interview, Emily said the big retailers won't accept product in packaging that exceeds certain dimensions for shelf space and shipping, so I don't think retailers will carry Classified VAMP.

I used to accept that excuse but I think it doesn't hold up anymore. Over the past few years, Mattel has put out massive dinosaurs and 1/12 scale vehicles through normal retail channels.PurpleLantern wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 2:08 amI thought in some SDCC interview, Emily said the big retailers won't accept product in packaging that exceeds certain dimensions for shelf space and shipping, so I don't think retailers will carry Classified VAMP.

I'm sure there are restrictions from the retailers, but I don't think that would play into a Vamp, especially since it probably would be in a box around the same size as remote controlled cars.
Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series
Yeah considering I have seen things like Castle Grayskull and that giant Mario Kart Rainbow racetrack on retail shelves in the past year I don't think that is an excuse.maczero wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 2:31 amI used to accept that excuse but I think it doesn't hold up anymore. Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series
The box for the Fortnite boat was huge. I have a 3D printed Cobra Stinger. With the wheels off it looked to fit in that sized box.
There is one reason they are not making more vehicles for Classified. Not many Fans will buy $200+ vehicles at full price unless there is no other option to obtain it.

Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series
Important to remember that retailers are more flexible with shelf space when it comes to the brand and until recently Joe was dead at retail. The HISS Tank doing so well is important because it shows retailers that close to 30,000 units can be moved.maczero wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 2:31 amI used to accept that excuse but I think it doesn't hold up anymore. Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series
30,000 units aint that much. That's 3 HISS Tanks per Walmart... That's unlikely enough profit for the shelf space relative to the turn.

Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series
With Walmart's distribution, only 1/3 of their stores would carry it.
