My Dreadmon from Toys R Us just arrived an hour ago and looking at him next to Jagwar and Man Ray is almost enough to bring a tear to my eye. I definitely want to get them set up with the cartoon Leatherhead, Wingnut, Screwloose and Mondo and recreate some Mutanimals goodness. Fingers crossed we get those guys in Archie format one day.
Now I just need Archie Slash to show up at Canadian retailers. I’ve had one preordered for over a year but Neca is still terrible at distributing to Canada. I am still waiting on my cartoon Krang robot from over 2 years ago. But supposedly it’s still coming. I am beginning to have my doubts though.

Re: NECA: TMNT Archie Comic Series
I'm pretty surprised to see the Jersey Red 2pk still available 6.5hrs after going live. Seems like all the TMNT stuff sold fast.
I didn't get any of the gang 2pks, so Haulathon wasn't too bad for me. 1 each of the single release figures, minus the Red Ronin & Rex.
Like many of you, I'd like to put together a Mutanimals display...Dreadmon arrived today, Jagwar next week. I have the Toon Wingnut/Screwloose & Man Ray. Just ordered Mondo from Amazon. Does anyone know of a decent spot to pick up Leatherhead? I passed on him originally...I thought about the Super7 one, but he wouldn't match these guys very well. Anyone know how to get Leatherhead without giving up a huge increase, or is eBay really the only option?

Re: NECA: TMNT Archie Comic Series
I'm waiting for Archie versions of the rest of the Mutanimals. Wingnut and Screwloose are significantly different aesthetically from the toon versions, as is Mondo, so I may as well just wait and hope that NECA plans on making the whole team in Archie style.
Then hopefully we get some Archie villains, especially Armaggon. My biggest wants after that would be Cudley, Chameleon and Ace Duck, but honestly I'm all-in on the Archie stuff, so whatever they make, I'll buy.

Fingers crossed for Archie Ninjara eventually
Someone said there is a rights issue, hopefully something can be worked out.

NECA: TMNT Archie Comic Series
Most of my TMNT nostalgia outside of the movies comes from TMNT Adventures, so I definitely want them to go deep. And while the non-Archie versions aren't "correct" for the Mutanimals, it's the closest we'll get for a minute. Since they're a mishmash anyway, maybe I'll just get the cheaper Super7 Leatherhead for now and fudge him in.Nik wrote:I'm waiting for Archie versions of the rest of the Mutanimals. I forgot about Haulathon today. I was out of luck for Jagwar by the time I remembered. Hope they really do go to other places. Glad I got Grunt at least. No need for Jersey Red.

Re: NECA: TMNT Archie Comic Series
As time has proven NECA is pretty great at jumping through licensing hurdles. I feel like it may take awhile but we'll probably see Ninjara at some point.Freditor wrote: ↑Thu Mar 23, 2023 11:25 am
There are licencing hurdles, just like with Usagi. Doesn't necessarily mean we won't get her, they were able to make it work with Usagi. But yeah, it's less likely because of that.
On the plus side: I got Dreadmon yesterday and he's a pain in the ass to stand on his toes in a somewhat natural looking pose... so if we don't get Ninjara, I don't have to deal with that again![]()

Re: NECA: TMNT Archie Comic Series
After both Dreadmon and Jagwar sold out while I was at work, and my store showing no signs of either one, I ended up ordering them on ali. Price is a bit more than I'd like, but they were doing an anniversary sale on the site and the particular seller had like a $3 discount coupon, so the price ended up pretty much right where I imagine the specialty/BBTS price is going to be (about $41each, taxed and shipped).

Re: NECA: TMNT Archie Comic Series
Is it just a matter of doing a separate licensing deal with the creator? Or is it more complicated than having to pay extra and he’s opposed to associating the character with TMNT or wants the design of the figure to represent a different look? If it’s just a money thing, which is basically all it was with Stan Sakai, then I could see it happening. Especially if he’s good with a Mitchroney version of Ninjara so she fits in with the rest.Slixta wrote: ↑Sat Mar 25, 2023 2:55 amAs time has proven NECA is pretty great at jumping through licensing hurdles. Re: NECA: TMNT Archie Comic Series
I may be wrong, but my understanding was even if they were able to work something out with the rights there was still reticence because the character has been used in some pornographic ways since her time at Archie.

Was that done officially somewhere? Her appearing in adult connotations? Because just about any comic/cartoon/video game character has been depicted in that way by fans if you look for it, even accidentally.

Yup, official. It was part of the Furrlough comics. A nice history of the character: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMo8tgi ... urtleNexus
Info about her after the TMNT Adventure series starts at the 5 min mark
