Re: Dungeons & Dragons: We want more, Hasbro!
No spoilers, of course, but I caught a showing of Honor Among Thieves yesterday, and despite not knowing a single thing about D&D, I had a blast! Such a fun, witty movie that didn't take itself too seriously. I know the likenesses aren't the best, but I'll probably pick up the figures too. I know both forms of Doric are on the way, which I'm glad for- she was a great part of the movie- but I hope they give us a Xenk and Sofina as well. I still see scores of figures on the shelves whenever I go out, which I'm sure is just because most people haven't seen the movie yet, but I hope that when they do, the figures sell well enough to get us the remaining characters. With how well they all played off one another in the movie, it would be a shame to never get 2 of the core characters.

Oh that'd be really cool as someone that doesn't really care about D&D or even fantasy figures

Re: Dungeons & Dragons: We want more, Hasbro!
I'm continually baffled by Hasbro's QC issues on the stuff from IPs they have a direct hand in.
I missed the early preview of the movie but a bunch of my friends went and loved it, got kinda hyped myself, saw most of wave 1 was discounted on Amazon (Michelle, Justice, and Hugh) and took a chance on them, arrived today. The face sculpts are great - even the not-awesome Michelle Rodriguez face sculpt is more meh than awful in hand. But Holga/Michelle's leg snapped off the first time I moved it. Locked hip just like the common problem with the GI Joe Classified line. Simon/Justice's left elbow feels like it could snap off if I turn it wrong. Forge/Hugh's left arm wont sit properly at the bicep swivel (a common problem with the Drizz't figure)... stays put but there's a gap at that joint. And he's got heavy ratcheted hip joints too that I'm afraid to move too much for fear of breaking another figure.
Like... the design of these figures is actually legitimately good in terms of sculpting, paint--Simon/Justice has some HILARIOUS easter eggs with his gear and they look fantastic!--but it's like they use the second string when it comes to producing the plastic on their D&D figures.
I'd be less annoyed except the Chris Pine figure, which I picked up as a test, is pretty much perfect. I had such high hopes. I'd love to know what goes on behind the scenes with this stuff, like if they cut corners because they own the IP themselves or something.

Wait... is there going to be a non-diceling Displacer Beast realeased? I didn't catch the live stream and I can't find any images on-line. But I'm super intrigued by this information. I'm waiting for clearance prices on the figures of the people, but I'm a sucker for the creatures. Hopefully someone, somewhere will share some pictures - or else I see them tomorrow when they go up for pre-order....

Shitballs YES to an Intellect Devourer. I tried bashing one up between ye olde DOOM vidya game line Braintopus-thing and ye olde Beast Wars Torca legs but would be far happier with a good one instead.

Thanks for sharing the images... they are all instant buys for me.
I will be sorely tempted to army build the owlbear and will buy a couple of extras of the Displacer Beast to just have more Panthers around.

I went from raging about breaking Holga right out of the package last night to looking for a preorder link for those monsters. If the Displacer Beast is anywhere near the quality Guenhwyvar was, these monsters will be amazing.

Nice thing with army building the owlbears is that you have two colors to build with since it seems to be a retool of the movie figurePantherCult wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 6:20 pmThanks for sharing the images... they are all instant buys for me.
